TEHRAN – Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami announced on Wednesday that a new frigate will join the navy’s northern fleet in the Caspian Sea.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran, Hatami said the frigate belongs to the Peykan family and it is expected to come into service within the next week.

Earlier on Wednesday, the navy unveiled its latest achievements during a ceremony in Tehran.

A digital autopilot for torpedoes, home-made fuel for torpedo engines, an unmanned boat, missile testers and a tactical vehicle were among the unveiled achievements.
